Daring Historical Route

This very unique route to the north will take you on a speedy visit to the most well known historical attractions of Ethiopia. If your main objective is to have a memorable ride in great off-road tracks but at the same time you would not like to miss the most well known sites of Ethiopia's history this is the tour for you. A fair warning: with the exception of the rock hewn churches of Lalibela you will not have the time to visit or see any of the attractions in depth, but boy will you have fun!

	Day 1:	Arrival in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Cultural evening in one of the best restaurants of Addis. The perfect environment to meet your fellow motorcycle riders and enjoy delicious Ethiopian cuisine seasoned with very energetic Ethiopian dancing. Overnight in Addis Ababa
	Day 2:	Departure to to Nekemte through Ambo. Visit the Mount Wenchi crater lake on the way reaching an elevation of 3,386m! (315 km asphalt, 70 km off-road) Overnight in Nekemte
	Day 3:	Departure to Bahir Dar through Bure. This welcoming town is situated in the shores of the fabled Lake Tana, the biggest lake in Ethiopia and the source of the Blue Nile (144 km asphalt, 290 km off-road). Overnight in Bahir Dar
	Day 4:	Departure to Debark through Gondar. Admire one of the most beautiful mountain chains in the world: the Simien. A truly magnificent ride where it is not at all rare to come across some of the endemic wildlife of Ethiopia (184 km asphalt, 100 km off-road). Overnight in Debark
	Day 5:	Departure to the city of Axum which dates to about 100 B.C and is one of Ethiopia’s star attractions. You will have lots of fun in this road. The landscape is different from last day’s but every inch as beautiful. Axum was the centre of power of the Axumite Empire, one of the oldest civilizations in Africa and is Ethiopia’s oldest city. It was the first place to adopt Christianity, is home to the Arc of the Covenant and, according to the Old Testament, the place of birth of The Queen of Sheba which made it its capital 1,000 years B.C. 	Day 6:	Departure to Lalibela which is also known as the kingdom of the living rock or African Jerusalem and is famous for its churches carved out from red volcanic rock dating back to the 12th & 13th Centuries (410 km off-road). Overnight in Lalibela
	Day 7:	Visit the famous Lalibela churches. Ethiopia is home to more World Heritage sites than most countries in Africa. The churches at Lalibela are perhaps the most prominent of all and Ethiopia’s top attraction. Overnight in Lalibela
	Day 8:	Departure to Kombolcha through Wegel Tena and Dessie. Have lots of fun riding through this off-the-beaten track route. Very rough terrain going through different landscapes and obstacles, e.g. river crossing (262 km off-road). Overnight in Kombolcha
	Day 9:	Eat the best fetira (traditional food eaten for breakfast) in Ethiopia in one of the local Cafes. Departure to Addis. In the evening we will have a farewell dinner in one of the best restaurants of Addis. There are many good Restaurants, Bars, Discos, Jazz Live Music and Cultural Dance venues to offer if you want to extend your stay (385 km asphalt). Overnight in Addis

	¹	• Returning clients and clients who book 3 months in advance have a 10% discount when booking directly with Africa Riding Adventures (offer is not cumulative).
		• At request Africa Riding Adventures can refund the full amount of deposit paid if there isn't a minimum number of 4 riders attending the tour. Pls read our terms and conditions for the full text of our policy.
		• Africa Riding Adventures reserves the right to cancel this calendar tour if no bookings are made 45 days before the tour commencement.

	²	Prices for passengers on support car may change if an additional car is needed to transport all passengers.

	³	• The single room surcharge will apply to the last rider booking for the tour when double occupancy is not possible.
