Sheiks Tour

This 9-day tour will take you to the seldom forgotten plains of the Bale Region. Although not strictly off-road the route is great fun with twisted roads of gravel, dirt and stones. You will ride through two important Muslim pilgramige sites and marvel at the site of the second most extensive underground caverns in the world. An extraodinary natural phenomenon of breathtaking beauty.

	Day 1:	Arrival in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The tour will start with a cultural evening in one of the best restaurants of Addis. The perfect environment to meet your fellow motorcycle riders and enjoy delicious Ethiopian cuisine seasoned with very energetic Ethiopian dancing. Overnight in Addis Ababa

	Day 2 - 8:	On this itinerary we will travel East to Afar territory with stops in Ankober, Langano and Awash. The ride to Ankober is beautiful! Through windy roads and hilly terrain and the mountain pass of Kundi at 3,500m above sea level, which provides a breathtaking view over the Rift Valley. Ankober was the ancient capital of the Kingdom of Shoa. Ankober’s heritage as an important historical site, the lodge enjoys a spectacular position overlooking the Great Rift Valley from 2,870m above sea level. As you get deeper into Afar territory you will ride through total wilderness. The ride to Sheik Husein, southern Ethiopia’s most important annual Muslim pilgrimage site, lost in the desert plains of Bale province will be memorable. We will ride through the Bale Mountains settings and overnight in Goba, the capital of the Bale region lying at an alittude of 2,500 metres. This ride to one of the most beautiful and less visitied mountain ranges in Ethiopia will be more challenging but lots of fun! Visit the Sof Umer Caves. Legend says that the caves go all the way till Yemen under the Red Sea. The ride is spectacular and on the way you may encounter some wild animals like the greater Kudu. We will camp in the camp site of Sof Umer. Be prepared for very wild camping. Lake angano is the only swimable lake in Ethiopia and a major attraction for tourists and city-dwellers. If you are brave enough you may want to dare a very healthy cold dip in Lake Langano's mineral waters. Don't forget your swimming gear! Overnights in Hotels and Camping

	Day 8:	Departure to Addis. In the evening of the last riding day we will have a farewell dinner in one of the best restaurants of Addis. There are many good Restaurants, Bars, Discos, Jazz Live Music and Cultural Dance venues to offer if you want to extend your stay. Overnight in Addis

	¹	• Returning clients and clients who book 3 months in advance have a 10% discount when booking directly with Africa Riding Adventures (offer is not cumulative).
		• At request Africa Riding Adventures will refund the full amount of deposit paid if there isn't a minimum number of 4 riders attending the tour. Pls read our terms and conditions for the full text of our policy.
		• Africa Riding Adventures reserves the right to cancel this calendar tour if no bookings are made 45 days before the tour commencement.
	²	Prices for passengers on support car may change if an additional car is needed to transport all passengers.
	³	The single room surcharge will apply to the last rider booking for the tour when double occupancy is not possible.
